New Delhi: Dera Sacha Sauda chief Ram Rahim Sing is currently out on parole. He was seen cutting a cake with a long sword on Monday, and his video went viral on social media.
Ram Rahim has been serving a 20-year jail term. He was accused of allegedly raping two of his disciples in his ashram. He came out of Sunaria prison in Haryana’s Rohtak on Saturday on a 40-day parole and reached Barnawa Ashram in Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat.
In his bail application, he said that he wants to take part in the birth anniversary celebrations of former Dera chief Shah Satnam Singh, which fall on Wednesday, January 25.
It is prohibited to publicly cut a cake with a sword because this activity comes under the Arms Act.
Ram Rahim inaugurated a mega-cleanliness drive on Monday, which was organised by the volunteers of his sect at various places in Haryana as well as numerous other states.
Many BJP leaders from Haryana, including Rajya Sabha MP Krishan Lal Panwar and former minister Krishan Kumar Bedi, took part in this event.
Ram Rahim had been granted parole numerous times. He was out of jail on parole in October 2022.
He was convicted by a special CBI court in Panchkula in August 2017. In 2019, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, along with three others, was declared guilty of the murder of a journalist.
