New Delhi: On Wednesday, The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) imposed a fine of Rs 10 lakh on Tata Group-controlled Air India for not complying with its earlier regulations. The DGCA has informed that a show cause notice was issued to Air India on November 3, 2023, seeking its reply for non-compliance with the provisions of the relevant rules.

In a statement on Wednesday, The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said it carried out inspections at Delhi, Kochi and Bangalore airports of Scheduled Domestic Operators in May and September to ascertain the discharge of their obligations related to facilities/compensation provided to the passengers as per provisions laid down in DGCA regulations.

In a statement, the DGCA said, “A financial penalty of Rs 10 lakhs has been imposed on Air India for non-compliance with DGCA regulations. A Show Cause Notice was issued to Air India on 3rd November 2023 seeking their response for non-compliance to the provisions of the relevant regulations.”

DGCA said in a statement that during the inspection it found that Air India was not complying with the relevant CAR guidelines. Later, on November 3, 2023, a show cause notice was issued to Air India, seeking its response for non-compliance with the provisions of the relevant rules.

However, Air India in its reply said that it has not complied with the provisions of the CAR.
