Digital Banking: PM Modi will inaugurate 75 digital banking units via video conferencing across the country today

New Delhi: The Prime Minister of the country, Narendra Modi will inaugurate 75 digital banking units, including 2 digital banking units of Jammu and Kashmir, on today. He will inaugurate them through video conferencing.

New Delhi: The Prime Minister of the country, Narendra Modi will inaugurate 75 digital banking units, including 2 digital banking units of Jammu and Kashmir, on today. He will inaugurate them through video conferencing. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in her budget speech had announced setting up of 75 digital banking units in 75 districts. The two banking units in Jammu and Kashmir include one unit each of Jammu and Kashmir Bank (DBU) at Chhani Rama in Jammu and Clock Tower near Lal Chowk in Srinagar.

Let us tell you that in order to strengthen financial inclusion, PM Modi will dedicate 75 digital banking units of various banks across the country in the name of the nation. The Prime Minister will inaugurate these units through video conferencing. After which he will also address the nation.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had announced to set up digital banking units in 75 districts across the country in the budget for the financial year 2022-23. On the occasion of 75 years of independence of the country, she had said that 75 digital banking units would be opened in the country.

The DBUs are being set up to ensure that the benefits of digital banking reach every nook and corner of the country. Eleven banks in the public sector, 12 in the private sector and one Small Finance Bank are participating in the endeavour.

DBUs will provide a variety of digital banking facilities to people such as opening a savings account, account balance check, printing passbook, funds transfer, fixed deposit investments, loan applications, application for credit or debit cards, and bill and tax payments among others.
