Mumbai: Veteran actor Dilip Kumar was hospitalised for a routine checkup in a Mumbai hospital on Sunday. His wife and actress Saira Banu shared an update on the 98-year-old’s health saying “he is recovering well and will be discharged soon”.
“We are here for a routine check-up for some health issues. If God is willing, we will go home soon,” Saira told media.
For a few years now, the actor has been keeping unwell and often visits the hospital for regular check-ups. Through all this, Saira ensures not just his well-being but also keeps his fans updated about his health.
It is to be mentioned, that given to the ongoing pandemic scare and losing two of his brothers last year to Covid-19, the actor had not celebrated his birthday last December.
Saira had told a leading daily in an interview back then, “We are still unable to come to terms with the passing of our brothers, Ahsan bhai and Aslam bhai. Moreover, Sahib never plans anything for his birthday. In fact, he remembers the event only when he sees the flowers sent by his friends and well-wishers, lining the drawing room and the foyer and the phone keeps ringing ceaselessly.”
The star that still shines bright in Bollywood’s star studded world, Dilip started his journey in movies in 1944 with ‘Jwar Bhata’ and went on to give several remarkable marvels and hits such as ‘Andaz’, ‘Daag’, ‘Ram Aur Shyam’, ‘Naya Daur’, ‘Madhumati and Aadmi’. One of his most iconic romantic movies was ‘Mughal E Azam’, which is considered to be the greatest films of all times.
