Bengaluru: An Audi car with VIP number plates rammed around Bengaluru late last night, with seven youths inside, none wearing seatbelts.
At around 2.30 am, the Audi Q3 rammed on a footpath and rammed into a pole, killing seven people, including the son of a Tamil Nadu MLA. According to police, the driver lost control of the speeding car.
A CCTV clip shows the moment the car smashed into the pole at Koramangala at a great speed, a wheel flying off.
While six of the car occupants died on the spot, the seventh deceased breathed his last on his way to a hospital.
DMK MLA Y Prakash’s son Karuna Sagar and his wife Bindu were in the group. All were in their twenties, enjoying a late night joyride.
The Audugodi Traffic Police said that the airbags of the vehicle did not open, leading to the death of all the travellers in the vehicle.
Initial reports said that the Audi car belonged to an MLA from Tamil Nadu. Reports also stated that Karuna Sagar, son of a politician from Hosur, also died in the accident.
Assembly polls are scheduled to be held in Uttarakhand next year.
Pictures circulated in the media show that the high-end Audi car was completely damaged in the accident.
The pictures clearly indicate that the car was running at a very high speed when it met with the accident. The bonnet, the inside area of the car and even its wheels were completely damaged.
The police have cordoned off the area and are investigating the cause of the tragic incident.
The vehicle is registered in the name of Sanjeevini Blue Metal Company.
“The accident has taken place due to negligent and rash driving. An investigation will be conducted by a team headed by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) into the incident.”
