Imphal: Caste violence continues in Manipur since May 3. Now direct attacks have started on the police personnel of the state. Meanwhile, a video is going rounds on social media, in which militants ambushed a squad of Manipur Police Commandos in Tengnoupal district in Manipur. Videos of the rescue operation, which took place on October 31, showed Assam Rifles troops rescuing policemen pinned down by heavy firing by armed militants from the hill above.

According to media reports, militants hiding in Haobam Marak area of ​​Imphal had shot dead a senior police officer on October 31. Chingtham Anand, resident sub-divisional police officer (SPDO) of Haobam Marak area of ​​Imphal, was killed in a ‘sniper’ attack when he was on his way to a helipad to be built jointly by the police and the Border Security Force (BSF). Shine was supervising the cleanliness of the school grounds. After the murder, a commando squad was sent to the area to provide assistance. The militants also ambushed the commando squad.

The rescue video of Assam Rifles is being shared on social media. It can be seen in the video that a group of Assam Rifles soldiers inside an armored Caspir mining resistant vehicle slowly reached a turn on the highway. Then a volley of bullets is heard from the armored vehicle. At the same time, a long queue of SUVs of Manipur Police Commandos is visible on the side of the road, which is surrounded by the bullets of the rebels from the top of the hill.

In the video, a soldier can be heard telling his squad inside Caspir to look towards the top of the hill. Immediately after this, sounds of gunfire are heard from the armored vehicle. Then a soldier says loudly, “This is accurate fire. Go back a little and provide covering to the police. They need covering fire.”

During this, another commando comes towards the vehicle almost crawling. The soldiers from within pull them towards themselves. A young man says to the doctor, “He has been hit by several bullets. Treat him first.” While applying a tourniquet on the commando’s leg to stop the bleeding, the doctor says, “Don’t worry, everything will be fine.” During this, the soldiers gave covering fire to the commandos.

Assam Rifles soldiers took three injured commandos to the hospital that day. There is no news of any casualty of any Assam Rifles soldier in the ambush attack.
