Mumbai: Drishyam 2, starring Ajay Devgn, is the third Bollywood film to cross the $300 million mark this year. The thriller’s status as a superhit was further cemented on Tuesday when its global gross earnings surpassed 300 crores. One of the most successful movies of the year, the movie is a follow-up to the 2015 smash Drishyam and a remake of the Malayalam film of the same name.
Drishyam 2 is presently in third place among the highest-grossing Hindi films of the year, with gross worldwide profits of 303 crore, trailing only The Kashmir Files (341 crore) and Brahmastra (431 crore). The majority of Drishyam 2’s earnings have come from India; just 52 crore have been made abroad.
Over the last week, Drishyam 2 left behind the profits of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 ( ₹266 crore). It may be impossible for it to match Brahmastra’s complete collection, but it is still unclear whether it will be able to surpass The Kashmir Files. In the upcoming week, the release of the Hollywood film Avatar: The Way of Water can hurt its chances.
Director Abhishek Pathak’s first film, Drishyam 2, features Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Akshaye Khanna, Shriya Saran, and Ishita Dutta. The late Nishikant Kamat was the original film’s director.
