Driver in Joe Biden’s motorcade tries to enter UAE Crown Prince Hotel; taken into custody

A case of breaching security of US President Joe Biden has come to light during the G20 Summit in Delhi. The driver of a vehicle included in his convoy took the car and reached Taj Hotel to drop the businessman. As several stickers were placed on the car, the security officials present at the spot issued a message.

New Delhi: Violating protocol during the G20 summit, a car in US President Joe Biden’s convoy entered a New Delhi hotel where the UAE Crown Prince was staying. As several stickers were placed on the car, the security officials present at the spot issued a message. Security agencies were shocked by the security breach at Hotel Taj on Saturday morning.

In Delhi, the driver of a vehicle included in his convoy reached another hotel to drop someone else. However, his carelessness was immediately caught by the security officers. The police took the driver into custody and after questioning, he was released after nothing found suspicious.

But after questioning the driver, they found that he had decided to drive to his other customers before going to Mr Biden’s hotel.

During interrogation, accused driver told the police that he had been asked to reach ITC Maurya, where President Biden stayed during the G20 Summit, at 9.30 am. Since he had time in the morning, he said yes to another ride where the customer wanted to reach Taj Hotel by 8am.

There was a businessman in the car, when the security agencies stopped them at Hotel Taj, whom he had picked up from Lodhi Estate area. He told that he was not aware of the security protocols. After questioning, the agencies released the driver and businessman of the car and removed all the stickers from the car and removed it from the convoy. Many private vehicles have been hired for the convoy of different heads of state.

Delhi had imposed several traffic curbs this weekend as it was hosting top world leaders during the G20 Summit. The Summit witnessed several discussions and bilateral meets to find solutions to some of the world’s most pressing problems.

Defense in the skies as well. Fighter jets, drones, paramilitary forces has been deployed across the national capital to ensure security of the delegates. Security control rooms have also established at the venue and special security arrangements have been made by the government around hotels.
