Drunk passenger on Jaipur-Bengaluru Indigo flight detained for misbehaving with cabin crew

The accused, who was reportedly in inebriated condition, was released on bail following his arrest. The flight took-off on Sunday evening. IndiGo official Varun Kumar stated that Singh, under the influence of alcohol, engaged in inappropriate behaviour by repeatedly holding the air hostess’s hand despite warnings.

Bengaluru: In yet another flight assault incident, a 33-year-old man recognize as Randheer Singh from Sikar district in Rajasthan was detained on Sunday for allegedly misbehaving with an air hostess on IndiGo flight 6E556 from Jaipur to Bengaluru.

The accused, who was reportedly in inebriated condition, was released on bail following his arrest. The flight took-off on Sunday evening. IndiGo official Varun Kumar stated that Singh, under the influence of alcohol, engaged in inappropriate behaviour by repeatedly holding the air hostess’s hand despite warnings.

Fellow passengers onboard the flight observed Singh’s disruptive conduct and swiftly alerted the flight crew. Recognising the severity of the situation, the flight captain declared Singh as an unruly passenger. Upon arrival at Bengaluru airport, the cabin crew promptly filed a complaint against Singh. IndiGo official Varun Kumar immediately reported the incident to the airport police on Saturday, leading to Singh’s arrest on Sunday.

Such incidents have happened before
Earlier this year, a flyer aboard an Air India flight was apprehend for allegedly engaging in disruptive behavior, including defecating, urinating, and spitting on the floor of the Mumbai-Delhi flight on June 24, as reported by the police. The man, named as Ram Singh and occupying seat 17F, reportedly committed the acts in row 9 of the aircraft. Cabin crew members rapidly issued a verbal warning and isolated him from other passengers upon noticing the misconduct. The pilot-in-command was informed and a request for security assistance upon arrival was relayed to the airline.

The disruptive behavior sparked outrage among many passengers. Upon landing, Air India’s security chief was present to escort the accused passenger to the police station. A case was registered under sections 294 (obscene acts) and 510 (misbehavior in public by a drunken person) of the Indian Penal Code. Air India issued an official statement condemning the incident, emphasizing the airline’s zero-tolerance policy for such ‘unruly and unacceptable behaviour’.

In another incident, two passengers on a SpiceJet flight were handed over to the police at IGI airport for misbehaving with an air hostess. One, Absar Alam, was detained under section 354 of the IPC. A video circulated on social media showed a passenger shouting at the crew member. SpiceJet said a passenger harassed the cabin crew during boarding, due to which he was removed.
