Earthquake: 3.2 magnitude of earthquake hits Manipur Noney

New Delhi: Earthquake tremors were felt in Manipur's Noni on Tuesday morning. The magnitude of the earthquake has been measured at 3.2 on the Richter scale. The National Center for Seismology has not confirmed any loss of life from the earthquake.

Earthquake: 3.2 magnitude of earthquake hits Manipur Noney

New Delhi: Earthquake tremors were felt in Manipur’s Noni on Tuesday morning. The magnitude of the earthquake has been measured at 3.2 on the Richter scale. The National Center for Seismology has not confirmed any loss of life from the earthquake.

According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the tremors were felt at around 2:46 am and its epicenter was at a depth of 25 km below the Earth’s surface.

NCS confirmed about the quake on Twitter, it wrote, “Earthquake of Magnitude:3.2, Occurred on 28-02-2023, 02:46:39 IST, Lat: 24.67 & Long: 93.66, Depth: 25 Km, Location: Noney, Manipur, India”.

Earlier on February 19, an earthquake occurred in Nandigama city of NTR district of Andhra Pradesh. The tremors struck at around 7:13 am on Sunday morning and lasted for 3.4 seconds. Panicked residents came out of their houses and came to the streets. On the same day, an earthquake measuring 3.0 on the Richter scale also struck Madhya Pradesh.

According to the National Center for Seismology, the earthquake occurred in Dhar, about 151 km south-west of Indore, at around 1 pm. The earthquake agency said the epicenter was at a depth of 10 kilometers from the Earth’s surface.

Two tremors of 3.8 and 3.3 magnitude earthquakes were felt in Gujarat’s Kutch and Amreli districts respectively on Monday. However, no loss of life or property has been reported at both the places. Five tremors between 3.1 and 3.4 magnitude have been felt in Amreli in the last one week. Around 400 mild tremors have been recorded here in the last two years. Whereas, in January 2001, there was a devastating earthquake in Kutch district.
