Earthquake: 4.0 magnitude of earthquake strikes Jammu and Kashmir

JAMMU: An earthquake measuring 4.0 on the Richter scale was felt at 10:10 am today in Jammu and Kashmir. The National Center for Seismology gave this information. Jammu and Kashmir is known to be a high-seismic zone. The depth of the earthquake was 10 km, it said. No loss of life or damage to property has been reported as yet.

JAMMU: An earthquake measuring 4.0 on the Richter scale was felt at 10:10 am today in Jammu and Kashmir. The National Center for Seismology gave this information. Jammu and Kashmir is known to be a high-seismic zone.

The National Center Seismology tweeted, “Earthquake of Magnitude: 4.0, Occurred on 12-04-2023, 10:10:51 IST, Lat: 34.44 & Long: 73.60, Depth: 10 Km, Location: Jammu and Kashmir, India.” The depth of the earthquake was 10 km, it said. No loss of life or damage to property has been reported as yet.

Earlier, earthquake tremors were felt in Bihar’s Araria at 5:35 am today. According to the National Center for Seismology, the magnitude of the earthquake was 4.3 on the Richter scale and its depth was 10 kilometers below the surface of the earth.

Another earthquake of similar intensity occurred in West Bengal Siliguri on Wednesday morning. The National Center for Seismology (NCS) reported the tremors 140km south-west of Siliguri.
