The National Center for Seismology said in a report that the latest earthquake occurred at 12.12 pm with a depth of 10 kilometers from the surface in West Kameng near the Bhutan border.
Earthquake tremors were felt in central-northern Assam and eastern parts of Bhutan.
There was no immediate information about any casualty or damage to property due to the quake, officials said.
The North-eastern region falls in high seismic zone, making earthquakes a frequent phenomenon there.
