Mexico: The country’s national seismological institute said that a earthquake of 5.8 magnitude on the Richter Scale hit central Mexico,including the capital. According to the information, the earthquake shook buildings in Mexico City.

After the tremors, people ran out of buildings and gathered on the streets, according to the to the report. The quake touched off a warning siren system, the institute said.

According to the country’s national seismological institute, Its epicenter struck the central state of Puebla, south of Mexico City, at a depth of 27 miles (44 km).Earthquake alarms went off throughout the capital, according to news agency.

In a post on social media, Mexico City Mayor Marti Batres wrote, however, there were no immediate reports of damage in the capital and no reports of damage in Puebla either.According to the US Geological Survey, the quake occurred at about 2:03 pm local time at a spot near Chiautla de Tapia, a rural village about 200 kilometres south of Mexico City in Puebla state.
