Earthquake of 6.1 magnitude hits Japan, no Tsunami warning issued

Japan: On Tuesday morning, the Meteorological Centre of Japan said that an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.1 hit Iwate and Aomori prefectures in northern Japan.

Japan: On Tuesday morning, the Meteorological Centre of Japan said that an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.1 hit Iwate and Aomori prefectures in northern Japan.

The Japan Meteorological Agency said that the epicentre was the northern coastal part of Iwate Prefecture. As per the preliminary reports, the earthquake was reported at 00:59 am (IST).

In a tweet, the agency added,” An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.1 hit Iwate and Aomori prefectures in northern Japan on Tuesday. The agency said that the epicenter was northern coastal part of Iwate Prefecture. He added that a tsunami warning had not been issued. There were no reports of immediate damage.”

Fortunately, early indications suggest that the earthquake did not cause any immediate injuries or property damage. However, residents reported severe tremors, which led to preventive measures being taken.
