6.5 Magnitude of Earthquake strikes northwest Argentina; no casualties reported

Argentina: Earthquake tremors were felt in Argentina on Wednesday. The US Geological Survey (USGS) confirmed the earthquake. The US Geological Survey reported a magnitude 6.5 earthquake 84 kilometers north-northwest of San Antonio de los Cobres, Argentina.

Argentina: Earthquake tremors were felt in Argentina on Wednesday. The US Geological Survey (USGS) confirmed the earthquake. The US Geological Survey reported a magnitude 6.5 earthquake 84 kilometers north-northwest of San Antonio de los Cobres, Argentina.

Currently, the USGS has not confirmed any loss of life or property from the earthquake. San Antonio de los Cobres is a small city in northwestern Argentina. According to the USGS, the earthquake hit San Antonio de los Cobres, Argentina on Wednesday at 21:30:31 (UTC+05:30) and was centered at a depth of 210 km below the Earth’s surface.

Earthquake tremors were also felt in Chile’s Iquique on Wednesday. The intensity of the earthquake was recorded at 6.3 on the Richter scale. The epicenter of the earthquake was 519 km southeast of Iquique, Chile. The National Center for Seismology (NCS) gave this information. Iquique is a coastal city in northern Chile, west of the Atacama Desert. No casualty has been reported so far.

According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of 204 km from the Earth’s surface and occurred at 21:30:31 IST. The NCS on Wednesday tweeted, “Earthquake Magnitude: 6.3, 22-03-2023, 21:30:31 IST, Latitude: -23.47 & Longitude: -66.51, Depth: 204 km, Location: 519 km from Iquique, Chile Southeast.”
