New Delhi: An earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale hit New Zealand on Wednesday. After creating devastation in Turkey and Syria, the earth is shaking in New Zealand as well. According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC), the earthquake occurred 78 km northwest of Lower Hutt, near Wellington.

New Delhi: An earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale hit New Zealand on Wednesday. There is no news of loss of life or property so far.

According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC), the earthquake occurred 78 km northwest of Lower Hutt, near Wellington. Government seismic monitor Geonet said the tremors were felt at a depth of 48 km (30 mi). The epicenter of the earthquake was 50 km from Paraparamu town.

The officer is monitoring the situation. Relief and rescue teams have been deployed. After the possibility of tsunami, the beach is also being monitored.

The death toll from the devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria is increasing continuously. Now this figure has crossed 41,000. In the same miraculous way, the order of getting people alive from the debris is also going on for many days. About 212 hours later, a 77-year-old man was pulled from the rubble in Adiyaman, Turkey.

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan gave an update on the situation after the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck on the morning of February 6, saying the situation is now under control. “We are facing one of the biggest natural disasters not only in our country but also in the history of mankind,” Erdogan said in a televised speech in Ankara.
