Earthquake tremors 2 times in Jammu and Kashmir within 1 hour, magnitude 4.1 on Richter scale

Jammu-Kashmir: Two aftershocks of earthquake were felt in Jammu and Kashmir late on Wednesday night. Earthquake tremors were felt in Doda and Kishtwar districts of Jammu and Kashmir. Earthquake tremors felt in Doda and Kishtwar districts of Jammu and Kashmir measured 4.1 on the Richter scale.

Jammu-Kashmir: Two aftershocks of earthquake were felt in Jammu and Kashmir late on Wednesday night. Earthquake tremors were felt in Doda and Kishtwar districts of Jammu and Kashmir. Earthquake tremors felt in Doda and Kishtwar districts of Jammu and Kashmir measured 4.1 on the Richter scale. However, no loss of life or property was reported in the earthquake.

According to the information, The earth trembled twice within an hour. Earthquake tremors were felt for the first time at 11:4 am. The magnitude of the earthquake felt for the first time was measured to be 4.1 on the Richter scale. “An earthquake of magnitude 4.1 occurred 62km ENE of Katra, Jammu & Kashmir, at around 11:04 pm today. The depth of the earthquake was 5 km below the ground,” NCS had tweeted.

Shortly after this, the tremors of the earthquake were felt for the second time. According to the National Center for Seismology, the tremors of the earthquake were felt for the second time at 11.52 pm. “Earthquake of Magnitude:3.2, Occurred on 24-08-2022, 23:52:45 IST, Lat: 33.05 & Long: 75.58, Depth: 5 Km ,Location: 60km E of Katra, Jammu and Kashmir,” NCS had tweeted.

According to the information, the epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of 5 km in the northeast, 62 km from Katra. Significantly, the tremors of the earthquake were felt even late on 22 August. The strong tremors of the earthquake were felt on the late night of 22-23 August at 2:20 pm. Then the magnitude of the earthquake was measured to be 3.9. Even then the epicenter of the earthquake was 61 km east of Katra at a depth of 10 km.

In addition to this, the tremors were also felt in Kolhapur Maharashtra today. NCS said that 3.4 magnitude of earthquake occurred at 12:05 am in Kolhapur. The depth of the earthquake was 5 Km below the ground, it added.
