Earthquake tremors of 3.9 magnitude were felt in Jammu and Kashmir in the early hours of Tuesday at around 2.20 am. According to the National Center for Seismology, the earthquake occurred 61 km east of Katra.

According to the NCS , The depth of the earthquake was 10 km below the ground. People came out of their homes after feeling the tremors. However, no information about any kind of damage has been revealed so far.

This is the second time an earthquake has hit the country in the last 24 hours. Earlier on Monday, there was an earthquake in Bikaner, Rajasthan. Its intensity was recorded at 4.1 on the Richter scale. Earlier, three days ago, on 20 August, an earthquake had hit Lucknow. Its intensity was recorded at 5.2 magnitude. The epicenter of the earthquake was reported around Bahraich, 139 km northeast of Lucknow.
