Mumbai: In breaking development in this case, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut has been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate. He has been arrested in Patra Chawl land scam case. The ED has arrested the Shiv Sena MP after a long interrogation of about seven hours. Today ED will present him in PMLA court. Let us tell you that since 5.30 pm, Raut was being interrogated in the ED office. At the same time, on the arrest of Sanjay Raut, his brother Sunil Raut said, ‘Sanjay Raut has been arrested. BJP is afraid of him and hence got him arrested. They have not given us any document regarding their arrest. They have been framed. Will be produced in the court at 11.30 am.
Earlier, an FIR was registered against Sanjay Raut at Vakola police station in Mumbai. He is accused of threatening a woman in a case related to Patra Chawl scam. Based on the statement of the woman, the police have registered an FIR against her.After recording the statement of Swapna Patkar, a witness in the Patra Chawl case, the Vakola police have registered an FIR against Sanjay Raut under sections 509, 506, 504 of the IPC in the threat call case.
A case has been registered against Sanjay Raut under sections 504, 506 and 509 of the IPC. If these sections are understood, then section 504 is imposed in the case of willful insult and indulging in violence. At the same time, section 506 is imposed in case of intimidation. Whereas a case is registered under section 509 for disrespecting a woman, touching her with wrong intention, saying any obscene thing or showing obscene material. 506 and 509 are non-bailable sections. In such a situation, the police can arrest the accused.
An ED team on Sunday raided Raut’s house in connection with the probe into a money laundering case. According to reports, cash worth Rs 11.50 lakh was seized by the ED from Raut’s house. The ED took this action after issuing several summons against Raut. On Sunday evening, the Shiv Sena MP was detained by ED in connection with the Patra Chawl land scam case after hours of raids at his residence in Mumbai, however, Sanjay Raut’s counsel said earlier in the day that his client was neither detained nor arrested.
On Sunday, The Rajya Sabha MP tweeted ,“I will not leave Shiv Sena..Even if I die, I will not surrender,”. I swear by the late Balasabheb Thackeray that I have nothing to do with any scam…Balasaheb taught us to fight..I will continue to fight for Shiv Sena.” In April, the Enforcement Directorate attached assets worth over Rs 11.15 crore of Mr Raut’s wife Varsha Raut and two of his associates. The properties include a flat in Dadar held by Varsha Raut and eight plots at Kihim beach in Alibaug jointly held by Varsha Raut and Swapna Patkar, the wife of Sujit Patkar, a “close associate” of Sanjay Raut.
