ED's big action on Bahubali Mukhtar Ansari, raids on 15 locations from Delhi-Lucknow to Ghazipur.
New Delhi: Enforcement Directorate has taken major action against Bahubali leader Mukhtar Ansari. The investigating agency has raided several locations of Mukhtar Ansari and his close associates in Delhi, Lucknow, Ghazipur and Mau. Not only this, raids have also been conducted at Mukhtar’s house in Muhammadabad. Apart from this, the ED has also raided the places of Vikram Agrahari and Ganesh Mishra.
The ED team reached Mukhtar Ansari’s house in Muhammadabad on Thursday morning and started investigation. Mukhtar Ansari’s MLA son Abbas Ansari and younger son Umar Ansari were questioned by the ED in May this year. Both the sons of Mukhtar were questioned by ED officials for several hours at the ED’s office in Prayagraj.
Mukhtar got VVIP treatment in Punjab
Earlier, there has been a big disclosure on Mukhtar Ansari. The AAP government of Punjab had recently ordered an inquiry into the allegations of giving VVIP treatment to Mukhtar Ansari while lodged in Rupnagar jail. During the investigation, it has come to know that the then Congress government of Punjab had engaged a lawyer for hearing in the Supreme Court to fight Ansari’s case. A total of Rs 55 lakh was spent on the lawyer at the rate of Rs 11 lakh per hearing.
ED had registered a case of money laundering in March 2001
Significantly, in March 2021, the ED had registered a money laundering case against Mukhtar Ansari. Ansari has been booked for possession of government land by preparing forged documents in 2020. Not only this, a case is registered against him in Lucknow for fraudulently acquiring property, fraudulently withdrawing MLA funds. Based on these three cases, the ED has registered a case of money laundering against Mukhtar Ansari.
The property of Mukhtar Ansari’s wife was attached by the administration
In the same month, the Ghazipur district administration had attached properties worth crores in the name of Afsha Ansari, wife of Mukhtar Ansari. Mukhtar Ansari’s wife Afsha has a property worth about Rs 2.25 crore which was attached. The SDM of the area with heavy police force attached three houses in Gorabazar area, Rajdepur and Phoolanpur. According to the police, these properties were bought with money earned from criminal activities. The SP said that the action against Ansari and his gang members would continue in future also.
