The Enforcement Directorate (ED) initiated raids on Friday at the homes and office of a builder closely associated with former West Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee. The investigation is part of the ED’s probe into suspected irregularities in the recruitment process for primary schools in the state.
Bengal School Jobs Scam, ED Conducts Raids in Kolkata Builder Home. ED teams, supported by central forces, conducted searches at the builder’s office and three flats in Naktala, located in the southern part of Kolkata. One of these flats is situated just opposite Partha Chatterjee’s residence, indicating a close connection.
The builder is believed to have played a significant role in the alleged scam, assisting the arrested minister in channeling funds from the irregularities into different projects, according to an ED official. Partha Chatterjee was apprehended by the central agency concerning the suspected irregularities in recruitment in government-aided schools.
Having previously questioned the builder on two occasions, the ED has now seized various documents and bank details from the individual. These findings suggest that Chatterjee sought the builder’s assistance in investing money acquired through the primary school recruitment scam, the official elaborated.
The raids underscore the ED’s commitment to uncovering the extent of the alleged scam and bringing those involved to justice, reinforcing their ongoing efforts in the investigation.
