Elderly woman, 60, brutally killed in tiger attack in Maharashtra

The officer said that some people working in the nearby fields raised an alarm, after which the tiger ran away from the spot leaving the dead body behind. He said that the body of the deceased woman was sent to a rural hospital in Bramhapuri for post-mortem.

Chandrapur, Maharashtra: In an unfortunate incident, an elderly woman, 60, was killed after a tiger brutally attacked her in Bramhapuri forest in Maharashtra’s Chandrapur district on Wednesday (November 1), officials said. The incident unfolded at Halda village that falls under the South Forest Range of Bramhapuri Forest Division in the afternoon, they added.

The deceased woman was identified as Savitribai Kamble, a senior forest department official said.

He said, “The elderly woman had gone to her fields when a tiger hiding in the bushes attacked her, killing her on the spot. The tiger dragged the woman’s body for about 100 metres.”
