Electricity workers will go on strike for 72 hours from tonight, power crisis may deepen in UP

The work boycott by the members of Vidyut Karmachari Sanyukta Sangharsh Samiti in protest against privatization and reduction in service conditions continued for the second day. After the failure of talks with the management, the electricity workers of Banaras will also go on strike for 72 hours after 10 pm on Thursday.

Electricity Workers Strike: The work boycott by the members of Vidyut Karmachari Sanyukta Sangharsh Samiti in protest against privatization and reduction in service conditions continued for the second day. This has affected the power supply. The supply remained interrupted for three hours from the second city of work boycott to the rural areas. In a protest meeting outside the Managing Director’s office, the workers decided to go on strike after talks with the management failed.

The media in-charge of the Sangharsh Samiti told that after the failure of the talks with the management, the electricity workers of Banaras will also go on strike for 72 hours after 10 pm on Thursday night. If any electricity worker is arrested during the peaceful agitation, he will go on strike and fill the jail.

Notices to employers and contractors of contract workers

The management has issued notices to the employers and contractors of contract employees, directing them to remove the absentees and to make new postings in their place. According to Director Personnel and Administration Shesh Kumar Baghel, necessary steps are being taken for uninterrupted power supply. Police has been deployed by the administration to ensure that no one harms the sub-centres.

Energy Minister appealed to end the strike

Energy Minister AK Sharma said that the month of March is important. That’s why there is an appeal to end the strike. Ready for talks. Many organizations have understood our point and have decided to remain separate in public interest. In this, all organizations including UP Power Association, Accounts Employees Association, Technical Association have decided to stay away from the strike. All of them are patriots.

Action will be taken if the public is hurt

The Energy Minister said that he has told the struggle committee that if the public suffers, action will be taken under ESMA. If anyone stops those who want to come to work, strict action will be taken. Be it a leader or someone else. Strict action will be taken against those who stop or cause harm. Instructions have been given to all the District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police in this regard.
