Elon Musk shuts Twitter offices in Mumbai and Delhi, sends staff home: Report

New Delhi: Twitter Inc has announced the closure of two of its three offices in India. Employees were asked to work from home. Twitter, which fired more than 90% of its roughly 200-plus staff in India late last year, closed its offices in the political center New Delhi and financial hub of Mumbai, people aware of the matter said.

According to report, Twitter now has only one office left in India. The company continues to operate an office in the southern tech hub of Bengaluru, which houses mostly engineers. An employee of Twitter has shared this information on the condition of anonymity.

Billionaire CEO Musk has laid off employees and closed offices around the world as part of an effort to stabilize Twitter financially by the end of 2023. Social media company like Google in India is working on many projects for a long time. At the same time, Musk’s latest steps show that he is currently giving less importance to the market.

Twitter has evolved over the years into one of India’s most important public forums for heated political debate and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has 86.5 million followers. Despite this, Musk’s company has decided to close two of its offices from India. This will definitely affect the revenue of the company.

Actually, the condition of Twitter is not good at this time. Since the $44 billion purchase, Twitter has failed to pay millions of dollars in rent for its San Francisco headquarters and London offices. Several contractors have been sued over the unpaid services and everything from bird figurines to espresso machines have been auctioned off to raise money.
