Emotional meeting between a 92-year-old Indian man and his Pakistan-based nephew after 75 years

Lahore: It is rightly said that blood relations never end. In a Bollywood-like incident, a 92-year-old man from India’s Punjab met his nephew from Pakistan at the historic Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib on Monday. They were separated during the partition in 1947. In this 75-year period, many of their relatives were killed in communal violence and several died naturally.

Sarwan Singh’s happiness knew no bounds when he hugged his brother’s son Mohan Singh, now known as Abdul Khaliq,because his upbringing took place in a Muslim family in Pakistan.

The emotional meeting of uncle and nephew took place at the historic Gurdwara in Narowal, some 130 km from Lahore, which is the final resting place of Sikhism’s founder, Guru Nanak Dev. On this occasion, several members of both families were present.

In respect, Khaliq sahib touched the feet of his uncle and they had a tight hug between them for a long time, as stated by Muhammad Naeem, a relative of Khaliq, to a news agency over the phone on his return from the Kartarpur Corridor.

He further added that both uncle and nephew remained together for four hours and shared old memories and the lives of two countries.

The emotions ran high after the duo’s reunion after a long gap of 75 years.

Singh is likely to visit Pakistan after getting a visa to spend a longer period with his nephew.

How do they meet?

Two YouTubers from both countries, India and Pakistan, played a key role in reuniting them after 75 years.

A Jalandhar-based YouTuber met Sarwan a few months ago and posted his past stories on his YouTube channel.

Meanwhile, a Pakistani YouTuber told the story of Sarwan to Khaliq, a man separated from his family at the time of partition.

By chance, a Punjabi-origin man in Australia after watching the videos helped to unite them. In one of the videos, Sarwan revealed the identity marks of his missing nephew, saying he had two thumbs on one hand and a prominent mole on one of his thighs.

However, a Pakistani YouTuber shared a similar video regarding Khaliq. Then Sarwan and his family members crossed the border, and the reunion took place
