Telangana Men Return Home After 18 Years in Dubai Jail. Back in 2005, Shivarathri Mallesh, Shivarathri Ravi, Gollem Nampally, Dundugula Laxman, and Shivarathri Hanmanthu, residents of Telangana’s Rajanna Sircilla district, were accused of the murder of a Nepali national in Dubai. Despite working tirelessly in Dubai, their lives took a drastic turn when they were handed 25-year prison sentences.

Taking up their cause, KTR became their champion, advocating for their release through diplomatic channels. In 2011, he even traveled to Nepal, meeting with the victim’s family and providing them with financial compensation amounting to ₹15 lakh.

The legal complexities in Dubai, exacerbated by a language barrier, initially thwarted their release efforts. Despite multiple appeals, their amnesty petition was rejected by the Dubai Court, leading to prolonged incarceration. However, a positive shift occurred with changes in Dubai’s laws, creating a window of opportunity for their release.
