Ben Stokes was on the receiving end against Carlos Brathwaite of the West Indies in the 2016 T20 final at the Eden Gardens. But today he emerged as a hero.

Sam Curran was declared Player of the Match for his stupendous bowling

Stokes helped his team win the 2019 World Cup, and today once again he proved his worth. He played most of the time when the team needed some extraordinary performances. What a wonderful player he is! He remained unbeaten on 52, which was eventually his highest total in the T20 format as well.

The grand finale of the T20 World Cup was played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground between England and Pakistan. Both sides were looking to win the coveted trophy a second time.

The coin fell in favour of England, and skipper Joss Buttler decided to bowl first. England was considered the favourite because of their current form. The English bowlers were accurate and never allowed any Pakistani batters to play their shots. The middle order of the green army was once again exposed against the quality attack of England.

Shaan Masood was the highest scorer for his team, scoring 38 runs. All the England bowlers were right on target. Sam Curran was the pick of the bowlers, mesmerising the Pakistani batsmen and taking 3 for 12 in 4 overs. Absolutely fantastic!

Pakistan just managed to score a paltry 137 for 8 in 20 overs.

Defending the 137 was a daunting task for any team. Pakistani pace bowlers were firing on all cylinders and took three wickets, including that of Buttler. At one stage, England was struggling with 45 to 3.

Ben Stokes is known as a man of crisis who kept one end intact and never allowed the opponent’s attack to clean up.
