“Ensure regular supply of medical oxygen”: Centre to state amid covid concerns

To deal with Covid epidemic, the government has started gearing up. In this series, Health ministry wrote a letter to all the States/Union Territories asking them to make complete preparations to deal with Covid. Ministry has directed to all the states to ensure the supply of oxygen and other equipment in hospitals for corona management.

New Delhi: To deal with Covid epidemic, the government has started gearing up. In this series, Health ministry wrote a letter to all the States/Union Territories asking them to make complete preparations to deal with Covid. Ministry has directed to all the states to ensure the supply of oxygen and other equipment in hospitals for corona management. This notice comes ahead of the nationwide mock drills which are to be held on Tuesday (December 27). Along with this, it has been said that PSA plants should be kept fully operational and regular mock drills should be organized to check them.

The Health Ministry has written that the availability of Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) in health facilities and the supply chain for their refilling should be ensured without interruption. Adequate inventory of oxygen cylinders with backup stock and robust refilling system to be maintained. Availability of life supporting equipment like ventilators, BIPAP and SpO2 systems along with their consumables.

According to reports, 201 fresh cases of covid infection have been registered in India on Saturday, with which the total number of active patients has increased to 3,397. According to the Ministry of Health, the daily rate of infection has been recorded at 0.15 percent and the weekly rate at 0.14 percent. The ministry said that 1,36,315 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.

It has been said by the Ministry of Health that the oxygen control room should be reactivated at the state level for oxygen. Daily oxygen demand and consumption to be monitored to implement on-boarding of all healthcare facilities using oxygen to the ODAS platform.

Earlier, the central government had announced that India-made intranasal COVID vaccine has been approved for inclusion in the immunization program as a booster dose for adults or people above 18 years of age. Those who have taken Covishield and Covaxin can take the nasal vaccine as a heterologous booster dose.
