New Delhi: In the breaking development in the case, The party has taken a tough stand against West Bengal cabinet minister and Trinamool Congress leader Partha Chatterjee, who has been accused of alleged scam in the teacher recruitment process under SSC in West Bengal. After the seizure of about 50 crore cash and five kg of gold and foreign exchange from two houses of Arpita Mukherjee, a close aide of the minister, the party seems to be separated from her. Responding to the controversial minister, the party spokesperson said, “He has brought humiliation and embarrassment to all of us.”
After the recovery of crores of rupees and connection with Arpita, there has been a demand in TMC to remove Partha Chatterjee. TMC general secretary Kunal Ghosh tweeted, “Partha Chatterjee should be immediately removed from the ministry and all party posts. He should be expelled. At the same time, he also said that if this statement of mine is considered wrong then the party should be punished.” I have every right to be removed from all posts.”
Partha Chatterjee should be removed from ministry and all party posts immediately. He should be expelled.
If this statement considered wrong, party has every right to remove me from all posts. I shall continue as a soldier of @AITCofficial.— Kunal Ghosh (@KunalGhoshAgain) July 28, 2022
The unaccounted money was found five days after the agency seized more than Rs 21 crore in cash, besides jewellery and foreign exchange, from another flat of Mukherjee, who was also arrested on July 23.
He further added, “This action is a matter of contemplation. Such incidents have brought humiliation and embarrassment to the party and party leaders. He (Partha Chatterjee) is saying that he will not resign from the post of minister. But they are public. Why are they not saying in the domain that they are innocent. What is stopping them from doing so.” He said, “He is holding many posts in the Mamata cabinet, so he should tell how he will give up the tag of being an influential person.”
Kunal Ghosh told that Partha is the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Parliamentary Affairs, Information Technology and Electronics, Public Enterprises and Industrial Reconstruction. He has been described by the Enforcement Directorate as an influential person in the Kolkata Court. This remark made by the party spokesperson regarding Partha is being considered as the stand of the party towards the minister.
After his arrest on Saturday, Partha had said that the party would not remove him from minister or any other post till the conviction.
Party mouthpiece “Jago Bangla” has stopped describing Partha as the general secretary and minister of the party. However, as editor of the mouthpiece, his name remains in the line of printers. Explain that as per the directions of the Kolkata High Court, the CBI is investigating the alleged scam in the teacher reinstatement case. At the same time, the Enforcement Directorate is looking into the irregularities related to money in the case. The scam happened when the education department was in charge of Partha.
