Experts believe eating too many refined grains like white rice increases risk of heart disease

New Delhi: For many of us, roti and rice are staple foods, and we don’t hesitate to include them in our regular diet. Excessive consumption of refined grains, such as white rice, can lead to a number of health issues, including an increased risk of heart disease. According to the Daily Mail, a recent study revealed that eating too many refined grains is just as harmful to your heart as consuming too many Halloween sweets. Therefore, if you like rice, it’s time to control your rice eating habit in order to prevent any health issues in the future.

Cardiologists suggest that although sugar is the number one enemy of your heart, overeating rice puts people at an equal risk of developing heart disease. Therefore, those who consume excessive amounts of candy or rice should be aware of their heart health.

Overconsumption of refined grains has been linked to premature coronary artery disease (PCAD), a leading cause of death across the world. The harm it causes is comparable to consuming the excessive sugars and oils found in sweets, “says Dr. Ankur Phatarpekar, director of the cath lab and cardiologist at Symbiosis Hospital in Mumbai.

According to the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association, a high intake of refined grains is linked to an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases, whereas consuming whole grains helps you stay healthy by lowering your risk of heart disease.
