Blasts rocks outside Punjab Police’s intelligence HQ in Mohali, window panes shattered; Cops cordon off the area

Mohali: Explosion outside at Intelligence Headquarters of Punjab Police in sector 77 in Mohali. It damaged a glass door and shattered window panes. No causalities have been reported so far. Blast is like a rocket-propelled grenade or RPG. According to reports a rocket launcher was used to fire RPG.

The police called it an RPG-like attack and termed the blast a minor one.

According to Mohali police, “A minor explosion was reported at the Punjab Police Intelligence Headquarters in sector 77, SAS Nagar at around 7.45 PM. No damage has been reported. Senior officers are on the spot and an investigation is being done. Forensic teams have been called”.

After the blast, a massive deployment of police was done in the area, the entire area has been cordoned off by the Police. SSP Chandigarh Kuldeep Chahal is also present at the blast site along with other senior officials. Police are currently examining the CCTV footage along with other evidence.

A team from the Forensic Science Laboratory is on the spot.

“The blast took place with a rocket type fire. There is no casualty,” said a police official.

“A minor blast took place at the intelligence building. The investigation is going on and our senior officials are on the spot,” the police official said.

A quick reaction team of the Chandigarh police was also deputed near the Intelligence office building.
