Fall of high-tension cables on an auto kills seven in Andhra Pradesh

Tirupati: Seven people died due to burn injuries after the falling of high-tension electric cables on a share auto. The auto was carrying farm labourers in Sri Sathya Sai district on Thursday.

The tragic incident took place near Chillakondaiahpalli village in the Tadimarri mandal of Sri Sathya Sai district.

After being informed by a local passerby, police personnel arrived on the spot. But nothing could be done as the auto on which the electric cable had fallen was fully burnt at that time.

Although police were able to rescue one woman, identified as Lakshmi, who suffered a severe burn injury, she was taken to the RDT hospital in Bathalapalli.

Victims’ bodies were scattered on the ground at the spot where the accident occurred.

As per the report, the deceased belonged to Guddampalli village.

The auto driver, named Pothulaiah, survived as he jumped off the auto during the time of the accident. Police have been questioning him regarding the accident.

The death toll is expected to go up further, as per the report by the local police.
