Kolkata: Famous Bengali singer Nirmala Mishra died due to heart attack in the early hours of Sunday. She was 81 years old She was battling age-related ailments for a long time. She was at her residence in Chetla area of South Kolkata today. Mishra was honored with the Balkrishna Das Award.
The treating doctor told media that Mishra suffered a heart attack at around 12.05 am and was taken to a nearby nursing home, where he was declared brought dead. “His body will be kept in the hospital on Saturday,” he said.
Even before this, she has been admitted to the hospital many times. However, she was not ready for hospitalization and treatment, so arrangements were made for her treatment at home. On Saturday suddenly his health deteriorated and there was difficulty in breathing. After that there was death. According to doctors, Nirmala Mishra died due to cardiac arrest. Earlier, he had suffered three strokes and two heart attacks.
Born in 1938 in the South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, Mishra is the recipient of the Sangeet Sudhakar Balkrishna Das Award, which was awarded to the singer for her lifetime contribution to Odia music. He was also honored with Banga Vibhushan, Sangeet Samman and other prestigious awards for his contribution to Bengali music.
