New Delhi: A high school female teacher named Rajni Bala (36) was shot dead by suspected militants in the Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday morning.
The deceased was injured when militants fired at her in Gopalpora, in the vicinity of Kulgam, where she was posted in a school as a teacher, police said. She was taken to a nearby hospital, where she succumbed to her injury, as per the report by the officials. The slain woman was identified as Rajni, wife of Raj Kumar.
The killing of a school teacher has created havoc in the entire area. Security forces have cordoned off the area after the incident so that no one can flee.
The attack on the female teacher took place after the killing of Rahul Bhat, a migrant Kashmiri Pandit working under the Prime Minister’s Relief and Rehabilitation Scheme in Kashmir.
Bhat was killed by militants at the tehsil office in Chadoora in Budgam district. Migrant Kashmiri pundits working under the PM’s Relief and Rehabilitation Scheme in Kashmir carried out a protest march against the killing of Bhatt. His killing was condemned by all sections of society.
The migrant Pandits protested at several places where they have got accommodation, such as –Sheikhpora, Vessu, and Ganderbal. They came on the street to assure security from the government.
However, they do not agree with the government’s proposal to live in Kashmir as there is a lack of safety in Kashmir. They want to relocate to Jammu.
This is the third incident in the valley since October. The first incident took place with the killing of Deepak Chand, a teacher in a school in Srinagar, along with the school’s principal, Supinder Kour.
