Film producer and businessman Atlas Ramachandran dies at age of 80

Indian businessman and filmmaker Atlas Ramachandran died on Sunday in Dubai at the age of 80. His real name was MM Ramachandran. According to media reports, Ramachandran was admitted to the hospital on Saturday after he complained of chest pain.

New Delhi: Indian businessman and filmmaker Atlas Ramachandran died on Sunday in Dubai at the age of 80. His real name was MM Ramachandran. According to media reports, Ramachandran was admitted to the hospital on Saturday after he complained of chest pain. He breathed his last after suffering a heart attack here. He had been ill for several days.

Ramachandran was the founder of the now-defunct Atlas Jewelery and had been living in Dubai for a long time. In August this year, he celebrated his 80th birthday at Bur residence in Dubai. Born in Kerala, Ramachandran was very fond of films. He produced several Malayalam films and acted and directed 13 films.

Ramachandran was born in Thrissur district of Kerala in 1942. Because of the unique style of advertising of his Atlas Jewelery Business, his name became Atlas Ramchandran. Ramchandran started atlas jewelery about three decades ago. There were about 50 branches in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates. There were branches in Kerala too. Atlas Group also stepped into Healthcare, Real Estate and Film Sector.
