Mumbai: Filmmaker Kabir Khan came into the limelight after directing his film Tubelight in 2017. Salman Khan and Sohail Khan played the lead roles in this film, while Shahrukh Khan appeared as a guest in the film.
Kabir Khan revealed that he had been attached to Shahrukh Khan since college days. Both attended the same institution in Delhi, the Mass Communication and Research Centre (MCRC). Incidentally, both were enrolled in the film making course at the institution. But SRK was a bit senior to him.
Recalling his study days, Kabir Khan said in an interview that I used to study with SRK’s notes throughout my college years.
He said, “I was doing a Masters in Communication, which was predominantly a filmmaking course.” Before me, the most famous person from our institute was Shah Rukh Khan. He was my senior at MCRC. I used his notes to study. I knew Shah Rukh before he joined the industry. “
Not only did Kabir Khan know SRK, but he also knew his wife, Gauri Khan. He shared, “His wife and I used to dance together, and we did a show together called West Side Story. “Gauri is a fabulous dancer. “
Kabir Khan also directed SRK in a Dubai Tourism ad. As per a report, when questioned about the possibilities of a full-fledged cooperation with SRK during the ‘Tubelight’ premiere, Kabir Khan said, “I would love to work with him.” I have known him since my college days in Delhi. We shot for an advertisement recently, and we do speak about ideas.
The latest movie by Kabir Khan is the film, “83.” The film is based on India’s victory in the 1983 World Cup under the captaincy of Kapil Dev, beating the mighty West Indies in the final. The film was released in December 2021. Actor Ranveer Kapoor played the lead role. Unfortunately, the movie failed to impress and totally flopped. It performed poorly at the box office.
