Filmmaker Lekh Tandon passes away

Mumbai: Veteran filmmaker Lekh Tandon passed away on Sunday at the age of 88.

According to sources, Tandon died due to multiple health issues. He breathed his last at his residence in suburban Powai.

“He was not keeping well for sometime and was bed-ridden from the last five to six months. He had multiple health issues due to which he passed away around 5.30 PM,” said filmmaker Ashoke Pandit.

Best known for films like ‘Amrapali’ (1966) and ‘Dulhan Wahi Jo Piya Man Bhaaye’ (1977), Tondan also directed TV serial Dil Dariya(1988) through which he introduced superstar Shahrukh Khan.

Also, he had acted in films like ‘Rang De Basanti’, ‘Swades’ and ‘Chennai Express’.

Tandon was cremated today in Powai.
