FIR against 5 doctors of Noida hospital leading to death of COVID-19 patient

A case has been registered against 5 doctors of a private hospital in Noida for negligence in treatment. The relatives of the deceased allege that during the second wave of Corona in the year 2021, their 20-year-old son lost his life due to the negligence of the doctors.

New Delhi: A case has been registered against five doctors of Yatharth Hospital in Noida. Pradeep Kumar Sharma of Ghaziabad had admitted his 22-year-old son Deepanshu to Sector-110 Yatharth Hospital on 30 April 2021. It is alleged that despite payment, the doctors did not inject Remdesivir to the patient at the prescribed time. Due to which the patient died.

In the matter, on the instructions of the Pandemic Public Grievances Committee, Gautam Buddh Nagar’s Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr. Tikam Singh was ordered to investigate. After completing the report, the inquiry committee has registered a case of culpable homicide against the doctors in Phase-2 Kotwali. On the complaint of Dr. Tikam Singh, an FIR has been registered at Phase 2 police station against the doctors of Yatharth Hospital under section 304A (death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code.

Additional DCP Noida Saad Miyan Khan says that the investigation of the case has started. However, Kapil Tyagi, managing director of Yatharth Hospital, claimed that the allegations of the relatives of the deceased were false. Medical Superintendent of the hospital Dr. Sunil Balyan says that when the youth was admitted, his lungs were 90 percent damaged. The patient remained hospitalized for about 36 days. The relatives had voluntarily taken the patient to a private hospital in Delhi. Where the patient died a few days later. The allegations of the relatives are baseless.

Regarding the FIR against the doctors, Phase II police station in-charge Paramhans Tiwari said that the police is probing the matter and further action will be taken on the basis of the investigation.
