FIR registered against former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli for allegedly assaulting wife with cooking pan

New Delhi: Vinod Kambli, former veteran player of the Indian cricket team, is once again embroiled in controversy. This time his wife has filed a complaint against him at Mumbai's Bandra Police Station alleging him for allegedly abusing and assaulting her under the influence of alcohol.

New Delhi: Vinod Kambli, former veteran player of the Indian cricket team, is once again embroiled in controversy. This time his wife has filed a complaint against him at Mumbai’s Bandra Police Station alleging him for allegedly abusing and assaulting her under the influence of alcohol.

Based on the complaint of Vinod Kambli’s wife, the Mumbai Police has registered a case against him under sections 324 and 504 of the IPC. Kambli’s wife has alleged that Vinod Kambli threw the handle of a cooking pan at her, due to which she suffered a head injury.

According to Kambli’s wife, the incident took place between 1 pm and 1.30 pm on Friday when Kambli, allegedly in an inebriated state, reached his flat in Bandra and abused his wife. After this he ran to the kitchen and took the handle of the cooking pan and threw it towards me.

An officer of Bandra Police told that before coming to the police, Vinod Kambli’s wife got her treated at Bhabha Hospital. After this, Kambli’s wife came to the police station and lodged an FIR against her husband.

According to Bandra Police, a case has been registered against Vinod Kambli under sections 324 and 504 of IPC. Please tell that his 12-year-old son has become a witness to the quarrel between the former cricketer and his wife, who was horrified to see all this.

Kambli’s wife Andrea said in her complaint to the police, ‘He keeps threatening me. They abuse me and my child, even beat them. After hitting us with a cooking pan, they also beat us with a bat.

Significantly, Vinod Kambli was earlier arrested by the police in February last year. Then he hit another vehicle with his car under the influence of alcohol. Kambli married Andrea Hewitt in 2014 at St Peter’s Church in Bandra. Kambli’s wife Andrea gave birth to a son in 2010.

After his marriage to his second wife Andrea, Kambli converted to Christianity and named their son Jesus Cristiano Kambli. In 17 Tests, the former Indian batsman scored 1,084 runs at an average of 54.20. In 104 ODIs, Kambli scored 2,477 runs at an average of 32.59. He also scored two double centuries in his short Test career.
