Dhanbad: In a tragic incident, at least five people, including two doctors, were charred to death when a fire broke out in a private nursing home in Jharkhand’s Dhanbad on Saturday, an official said.
The owner of the nursing home, Dr Vikas Hazra, his wife, Dr Prema Hazra, the owner’s nephew, Sohan Khamar, and domestic helper Tara Devi were killed in the deadly fire incident.
The accident took place when a fire broke out in the store room of the nursing home cum private house in the Bank More area of Dhanbad, around 2 am, and the area is situated 170 km away from Ranchi.
Dhanbad Sub-divisional Magistrate (SDM) Prem Kumar Tiwary told a news agency that in the fire incident, at least five people died, including the owner of the nursing home and his wife. As per the SDM, deaths took place due to suffocation. One person got a burn injury. Further investigation has been underway to find the cause of the fire.
Four of the deceased have been identified, while the fifth has yet to be identified, he added.
