New Delhi: After Friday’s gruesome train accident at Bahanga Bazar in Balasore district, damaged train coaches have been removed from the main ‘trunk line’ connecting eastern and southern India and two rail tracks have been opened to restore train services. On Sunday itself, Railway Minister Vaishnav said that the “root cause” of the accident has been ascertained and the “people” responsible for it have been identified. “It (accident) happened due to changes made in the electronic interlocking and point machine,” he told reporters. He said the cause of the mishap was related to the ‘point machine’ and ‘electronic interlocking’ system, a key equipment for railway signalling. Vaishnav said that the change made in the ‘Electronic Interlocking’ has been identified which led to the accident.
