New Delhi: Flight operations at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport have been disrupted due to dense fog, reducing visibility to zero in some areas. Airport authorities later issued an advisory, urging passengers to contact their respective airlines for updated flight information.
With visibility reduced to zero in some parts of the airport, safe operation of flights has become a significant challenge. This sudden weather change inevitably led to flight delays and inconvenience to passengers. Flight disruptions due to fog are a common occurrence at airports located in areas with such weather conditions. Airlines and airport authorities usually have protocols in place to manage impacts to flight schedules and passenger itineraries.
Adding to the fog issue, the India Meteorological Department has recorded an air quality index (AQI) of around 400, which classifies Delhi’s air quality as ‘very poor’. This has led to a ban on non-essential construction work within the Delhi-National Capital Region. The current temperature in Delhi has been recorded at 9.4 degrees Celsius, due to which the weather related problems of the city have increased further.
Passengers are advised to stay informed and contact their airlines for updates. Although disruptions may cause temporary inconvenience, the primary focus remains on safety. Although the situation is being closely monitored, dense fog is expected to continue to impact flight operations until visibility improves significantly.
