For the 2nd consecutive day, India records over 20,000 new cases, 54 fatalities in past 24 hours

New Delhi: Over 20 thousand new cases of Covid-19 infection were reported in India for the second consecutive day. After the arrival of 20,409 new cases, the number of infected in the country increased to 4 crore 39 lakh 79 thousand 730. However, even after getting a large number of new patients, the number of active patients in the country remained less than on Thursday.

According to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Saturday (July 30, 2022). As per the latest data, the active cases declined to 1,43,384 today. The death toll climbed to 5,26,312 with 54 new fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated.

Maharashtra has the highest number of corona patients in the country. 2,203 new patients have been found here. 1,889 in Karnataka, 1,837 in Kerala, 1,712 in Tamil Nadu, 1,495 in West Bengal, were found to be corona infected. While 1,128 new patients have been found in Delhi, 930 in Himachal and 1,101 in Gujarat, 1,030 new patients have been found in Odisha.

According to the data released by the Union Health Ministry, the death toll reached 5 lakh 26 thousand 258 due to the loss of 47 patients. The mortality rate is 1.20%.

According to the data, the number of active patients has come down to 1 lakh 43 thousand 988, which is 0.33 percent of the total cases of infection. A decrease of 2,335 cases has been registered in the number of patients under treatment for corona virus in 24 hours. 22,697 people beat the epidemic. So far, a total of 4 crore 33 lakh 09 thousand 484 people have defeated the epidemic. The national recovery rate of patients is 98.48 percent.

The daily positivity rate stood at 5.05 per cent and the weekly positivity rate at 4.92 per cent, the ministry said.

The cumulative doses administered under the nationwide Covid-19 vaccination drive has exceeded 203.94 crore on Saturday at 8 am, out of which 33,87,173 doses were administered in last 24 hours.
