New Delhi: Former Union Minister and Janata Dal (U) president Sharad Yadav passes away on Thursday. He breathed his last at the age of 75. The news of the death of the leader has been confirmed by his daughter Shubhasini Sharad Yadav. He wrote on the social media platform, “Papa is no more.” Sharad Yadav was running ill for a long time.

PM Modi expresses grief
There is a wave of mourning in the political corridors due to the death of Sharad Yadav. The country’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi has condoled his death. RJD President Lalu Yadav, who is currently undergoing treatment in Singapore, has expressed condolences. Sharad Yadav’s party Loktantrik Janata Dal merged with Rashtriya Janata Dal on March 20, 2022. His move was seen as an attempt to rehabilitate his allies as he formed his own party after parting ways with Janata Dal (U) leader and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, but it did not perform well.

He contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections on RJD ticket. At the same time, his daughter contested the 2020 Bihar assembly elections as a Congress candidate. At that time the Congress was involved in the RJD-led coalition.
