Punjab’s Vigilance Bureau on Monday arrested former minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot in a disproportionate assets case. He will be produced in Mohali court today. Earlier, Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, who was a minister in the Congress government, was also arrested in June 2022. He has also been accused of scholarship scam

He was also arrested last year in a corruption case. Later, the Punjab and Haryana High Court granted him bail.

A bureau spokesperson said Dharamsot was arrested on charges of amassing wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income. He said, ‘During the period under investigation from March 1, 2016 to March 31, 2022, the income of the former minister and his family was Rs 2.37 crore while the expenditure was Rs 8.76 crore, which is 269 percent (Rs 6.39 crore) more than the known source of income. Was. The bureau told that the investigation is being done to find out the other properties of the former minister.

Sadhu Singh Dharamsot has also been accused of rigging in issuing permits for felling of Khair trees, transfer of officers and issuing NOC while he was a minister.

On bail in scholarship scam

After the formation of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab in March 2022, Sadhu Singh Dharamsot has been arrested by the Vigilance Bureau for the second time. In June 2022, Dharamsot was arrested in the scholarship scam. It is alleged that Dharamsot made irregularities in the scholarship given to the students of different classes when Captain Amarinder Singh was the CM of Punjab. These allegations were leveled against Dharamsot only during the Captain government, but the then CM Amarinder Singh gave him a clean chit.
