Four charred to death, several get burn injuries as a bus carrying pilgrims catches fire near Katra

Katra: A bus carrying pilgrims of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine (SMVDS) caught fire in the Katra area of Reasi district in Jammu on Friday, May 13. As per the initial report, four people were charred to death while more than 22 others sustained burn injuries.

According to the preliminary investigation, the fire started in the engine of the bus, which quickly engulfed the entire bus.

Rescue operation is going on. All the injured due to the fire incident have been shifted to Katra for treatment. The condition of some of the pilgrims is critical.

Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Jammu zone, Mukesh Singh said that the Forensic Science Laboratory Division (FSL) teams have been deputed to the spot to ascertain the cause of the incident. Further details are awaited.
