A devastating incident occurred in Chandauli, Uttar Pradesh, where four individuals, including three labourers, tragically lost their lives due to toxic gas inhalation while cleaning a 15-year-old septic tank. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has extended his condolences to the affected families and has urged officials to provide immediate relief measures.
The New Mahal area of Chandauli witnessed a heartbreaking accident as three labourers and the landlord’s son fell unconscious and subsequently passed away while cleaning the septic tank.
Upon receiving reports of the incident, local authorities swiftly responded, dispatching police to the scene and arranging for the bodies to undergo post-mortem examinations.
Eyewitnesses recounted how each labourer, one after another, entered the septic tank only to succumb to toxic fumes, followed by the landlord’s son, who also lost consciousness in an attempt to rescue the workers.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate Viraj Pandey confirmed the devastating outcome, revealing that the cleaning operation was taking place at the residence of Bharat Jaiswal. The District Administration has pledged Rs 4 lakh ex gratia to the families of each deceased victim.
CM Yogi Adityanath expressed profound sadness over the loss of lives and has directed officials to swiftly respond to the situation, emphasizing the urgency of providing relief to the affected families.
