Shahdol police reached the coal mine after getting information about the incident. By running a search operation from late Thursday night till Friday morning, the officials pulled out the dead bodies with great difficulty.
Shahdol/Madhya Pradesh: In Shahdol’s Dhanpuri police station area, a gang of habitual thieves entered into a closed coal mine to steal scrap. Thieves put a young man on guard and entered inside the mine to steal iron from the remaining 4 junk machines. Even after a long time, when no movement was heard from inside, the young man on guard ran away from there in fear and told this to his family and friends.
Somehow the matter reached the police and then with the help of South Eastern Coal Field (SECL), the police sent the rescue team inside the mine at night itself. From where the rescue team pulled out all four dead. Initially, the reason for the death of the youth seems to be suffocation.
According to the information, this coal-producing mine was closed 6 years ago. All these thieves entered the mine late on Thursday night with the intention of stealing, but they died due to suffocation.
Actually, SECL has many mines in Shahdol and Anuppur districts of Madhya Pradesh. A large amount of heavy machinery is used in these mines. Unusable and defective machines are often brought to the store or in many cases left there. The junkers have an eye on this junk of Kalri. Gangs of junkyards sometimes attack mines or stores armed with gas cutters and weapons to steal junk. A few days back, the Anuppur police had caught 110 tons of junk worth Rs 44 lakh while taking major action on the scrap yard.
Shahdol Superintendent of Police (SP) Kumar Prateek said that the police have started investigating the matter after establishing a case. Initial investigation has revealed that they might have died due to gas leak. The bodies of the youths were sent to Shahdol Medical College late last night, where the bodies will be handed over to their relatives after the post-mortem.
