France: A private jet collided with an electric wire in the French capital Paris on Sunday. Three people traveling in it died. According to British media house Metro, the incident occurred at 4 pm local time. A woman is also included among the dead.
According to police, the incident took place on National Highway A4, and the jet had taken off just half an hour before the crash. The model of the plane is Cessna 172. The upper part of the jet hit the power cable, which was a high voltage electric power cable. After which the jet caught fire.
Police said that the highway was closed from both sides and the rescue team conducted a rescue operation on the spot. The pilot flying the jet had got his license only last year. The pilot had 100 hours of jet flying experience.
All residents of the mobile home park were accounted for, police said in a social media post. The fire also burned several outbuildings. The plane was believed to have taken off from Longmont, Colorado, and was on its way to Ogden, Utah, Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue said.
Witnesses reported the airplane appeared to have mechanical issues, fire officials said. The National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the cause of the crash.
Officials had raised questions about the jet taking off on the National Highway.
The Aviation Ministry has started investigating the matter. Local people said that so far this year, two private jets have met with accidents on the A4 National Highway. Even before this, local officials had raised questions about the plane taking off from here.
