French Open badminton: Indian shuttler Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty’s pair for the first time win men’s doubles title

New Delhi: India's star shuttler Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty have created history. These Indian shuttlers together won the men's doubles title of the French Open badminton. Satwik and Chirag have become the first Indians to win the men's doubles title of a Super 750 badminton tournament. The pair registered a straight game win over Chinese-Taipei players in the final played in Paris.

New Delhi: India’s star shuttler Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty have created history. These Indian shuttlers together won the men’s doubles title of the French Open badminton. Satwik and Chirag have become the first Indians to win the men’s doubles title of a Super 750 badminton tournament. The pair registered a straight game win over Chinese-Taipei players in the final played in Paris.

The star Indian pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty on Sunday named the biggest title of their career. The pair defeated Chinese Taipei’s Lu Ching Yao and Yang Po Han in straight games in the men’s doubles final of the French Open badminton in Paris. The world number 8 pair, who finished as runners-up in the 2019 edition, defeated Lu and Yang 21-13, 21-19 in a 48-minute match.

This male pair of India has continued their stellar performance this year. Chirag-Satwik won the bronze medal at the World Championships in August. Apart from this, he also won the Indian Open Super 500 title, Gold in Commonwealth Games and Thomas Cup.

The Indian pair took a 5-0 lead in the opening game and continued to perform well. Although Chinese Taipei players tried to make a comeback, Satwik-Chirag won the first game 21-13. There was a tough competition in the second game. Initially, the Chinese Taipei pair tried to lead but the score remained in India’s favor till the interval. In the second game, the players of Chinese Taipei leveled the score at 14-14 and then at 19-19, but Satwik-Chirag created the rhythm and won the game and the match at 21-19.
